No, RVFix is a repair service separate from your warranty. Think of it like we’re the repair shop where your warranty is processed through. One of the best parts of using RVFix is that we can get your warranty processed quickly before you ever have to drop off your RV, saving you time and money!  

RVFix does not decide what is and isn’t covered under your warranty. We work hand in hand with the manufacturers to get your warranty approvals and fight for your repairs to be covered as much as possible. With an active RVFix membership, going through us is the equivalent of going straight to a repair shop for warranty coverage on your RV. If you do not have an active membership, your warranty alone will not cover the $99 virtual tech call fee for accelerated diagnostics on your repair. You would be required to cover the call fee yourself, but that’s less than half the cost of one hour of labor at an average service center.

The short answer is, it’s totally up to you!  

We resolve 40% of issues during the first tech call. Those are pretty much always fixes that don’t require any additional parts, aside from some that RVers would likely have on hand already, like a fuse.  

For the other 60%, who performs the repair will always depend on the severity of the issue. For example, there are some issues that can only be resolved with specialized equipment in a service center, and there are some issues that we won’t walk people through over the phone because they’re too dangerous (like repairs where you need to disconnect a gas line).  

But in the case of a repair that could be done by yourself, we leave it up to you on how you want to proceed. We can either send the part directly to you* and have a follow up call to guide you through installation, we can send a mobile technician to wherever you are and they can fix the issue, or we can schedule you with the nearest partnered service center. We will never force you to repair something on your own.  

It is worth noting that many choose to perform repairs on their own to avoid the additional cost of mobile technicians or service center labor.  

*Some parts are unable to be shipped directly to you, including some warranty electrical items and recall parts. Some manufacturers require those to be installed by a technician.

For your initial call, you don’t need anything!

If we determine a virtual call with a certified technician is the best path for your repair, we’ll help walk you through everything you’ll need to be prepared for that video call!

A few of those things can include:

Downloading the SightCall app on your mobile device (we’ll send you a link to it)
Power to your RV and enough space to extend your slide outs
Tools depending on your issue (multimeter, screwdriver, tape measure, ladder, etc.)
Important documents (insurance information, service contracts, recall paperwork, etc.)

Your RVFix membership is tied to the VIN of your RV, not to you personally. So, while your family members cannot use your membership to repair their own RV, they can use your membership to call in your place.

However, repairs need to be approved by the owner of the RV. So, while others can call for your RV with questions they may have, they won’t be able to do any repairs without your approval.
